quote from emily's email:
Don Juan was fantastic! The story, stage, decor, color, music, dance,
songs and performance! So many emotions - love, jealousy, pleasure,
pain, seduction, despair, loyalty, friendship....
The opening scene was spectacular! The war zone scene (with Raphael),
the prayer scene (of Don Luis), the dual scene (Don Juan and Raphael)
were outstanding! Of course, Mario Pelchat as Don Carlos, what a voice!
JF Breau was a little shaky in the first two songs- may be too much
adrenaline, but he got better and better, "Aimer" and "Je Meurs D'amour"
- took my breath away! PB as the tortured Raphael, what a performance he
gave, so powerful, he blew me away, what a heart-throb! Don Luis and
Isabel - not main
characters, but very good voice. Maria was a little shaky for the first
song, but got much better in the second act. The only weak voice is
perhaps Elvira. The dancers were fabulous, especially the 4 male
dancers, really generates some serious heat in Flamingo! I can't wait
for it to come out on DVD.
It was especially moving when the performers were taking their final
bow, the entire audience was on it feet, screaming and appalauding.
Then Don Juan and Maria started to sing, without any instrument, of
"Changer" the entire audience sang with them, then the entire group
of performers and the audience were singing
together, it was beautiful. A truly memorable evening.
I am sending you some pix, taken from JF Breau and Don Juan official
sites.
